This tour 2 Day tour lets you get up close and watch young gorillas rough and tumble like wrestlers, maternal females gather in grooming groups, occasionally reprimanding the little ones, while the patriarchal silverback keeps a protective eye on the surroundings.
Africa’s mountain gorillas can survive only in the wild – you cannot see these creatures in a zoo – which makes trekking to see them in their natural habitat a once-in-a-lifetime journey.
Spending time with gorillas in the wild is by far the most transformative and up-close wildlife experience in Africa. A face-to-face encounter with these great apes in the parks will gift you with soul-stirring memories that will never fade. So rare are gorillas, that trackers are able to give them individual names and identify their faces and personalities easily.
This tour also offers a free City drive around tour as well as a tour of Rwanda’s Genocide, a tear-inducing museum, with giant wall displays, archival documents, photos, video footage and weapons encased in glass, which sheds light on the Kigali genocide, as well its pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial roots.

Gorilla Trek
Gorilla treks take place in the morning and depart from the Park Headquarters at around 07:30am.
Prior to departure you are given a briefing by park staff, assigned a gorilla family to visit and rangers to guide you.
The treks take place on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes and clients should be in good physical condition as some of the trek can be physically demanding.
The treks normally start in the cultivated land on the base of the volcanoes and then you are guided up into the beautiful dense misty forests.
The trek normally lasts between 2 and 5 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family and a maximum of eight visitors is allowed per gorilla family.
Once you reach the gorillas you are permitted to stay for one hour to view them.
The minimum age for gorilla trekking in Rwanda is 16 years.
After the experience you will trek down Volcanoes and have lunch at a local restaurant, followed by the return journey to your drop off location within Kigali.
